The Mom Behind The Mom League: How Riley Bolton Built the Village She Couldn’t Find

Riley Bolton

If you’ve ever realized motherhood doesn’t come with a manual or maternity leave for yourself, you’ll understand exactly where Riley Bolton found her spark.

Riley, a Winston-Salem–based mom of two (ages almost 4 and almost 6), is the co-owner of The Mom League, a community-driven space helping new moms feel less alone in the wild, wonderful, and very loud postpartum chapter.

From Missing Community to Building One

When Riley became a mom during the pandemic, she felt what so many new mothers did — isolated. “There was no village,” she says. “Covid babies led to the feeling of missing community. We wanted other moms to have support and connection postpartum and beyond.”

So, she built what she wished existed: The Mom League, a space where moms can talk about the real stuff: the messy, emotional, in-between parts of postpartum life that don’t make it into the baby books.

The heart of it all is The Newborn Series: an 8-week class led by a perinatal mental health therapist that dives deep into all things postpartum and newborn. Riley and her team bring in local experts, honest conversation, and a whole lot of “you’re not alone.”

It’s not just a class; it’s a lifeline.

Motherhood, Mayhem, and “My Third Child”

Like most of us, Riley’s motherhood realization came fast: “How nonstop it is! Never a dull moment and you’re always on!”

Her business has grown in rhythm with her kids, expanding as they’ve started school and need her a little less during the day. “Basically, it’s my third child,” she says.

Running a business while being a stay-at-home mom isn’t for the faint of heart, but Riley wouldn’t have it any other way. “We love what we do,” she says. “While owning a business and being a SAHM with small kids isn’t for the weak, we feel like it’s our dream job.”

Boss Moves + Tiny Wins

Let’s talk about wins, big and small.

Her proudest? Winning a $10,000 pitch competition, going up against tech and AI startups. Proof that heart-centered ideas belong in every room.

But her most meaningful moments come quietly. “Having a mom say what a difference The Mom League has made in their postpartum journey.”

The Village Is Growing

Now, Riley and her business partner are franchising The Mom League, giving other moms across the country the chance to build their own local leagues — part community, part purpose, part perfectly imperfect balancing act.

Because motherhood may not come with an instruction manual, but if Riley has her way, it’ll at least come with a village.
