Mom Spotlight: Kay Turner

Kay Turner with her daughter

📍 Charlotte / Steele Creek
👶 1 child, 3 months old

Kay Turner is a brand-new mom adjusting to life with her 3-month-old daughter — and she’s honest about what that really feels like.

What shocked her most about motherhood?
“My mind constantly being on my child or what I have to do next to care for her. There’s no room to breathe. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the reality that I’m going to be thinking about my baby for the rest of my life. I can’t even watch a hurricane documentary without thinking about her in the water and crying!”

Even with the tough moments, Kay loves the little joys — like when her daughter wakes up smiling, even in a pitch-dark room.

Her funniest ‘lost it’ moment so far?
“Probably when my [family] kissed her…… like what are y’all doing actually?”

Kay’s go-to recharge ritual: Prayer. “So often throughout the day,” she says.

What feels like a win right now:
Her baby is sleeping a solid 4-5 hours at night — giving Kay and her husband a chance to catch up, watch sports, or just enjoy quiet time together — and she’s thriving at daycare.

Advice she’d share with other moms:
“If you’re struggling mentally, please just talk to someone about it. Your thoughts don’t consume or rule you as much when you say them out loud to someone. It can feel lonely and like the hard stages are going to last forever, but they don’t.”

If Kay had 24 hours to herself?
She’d go for a long walk, grab a matcha and a muffin, take an “everything shower,” order pizza with ranch, bake cookies, binge-watch a show — and yes, take a gummy (“IYKYK”).

Her secret weapon for surviving tough days? “Getting a matcha. Homemade just doesn’t hit the same!”
