She Had the Birth Support Every Mom Deserves. Now She's Making Sure Other Women Don't Have to Hope for It.

Chelsey Rush became a doula the moment she realized what it felt like to truly be held through one of the hardest and most sacred experiences of her life.

When we say Mamas & MOMents is postpartum care with your whole self in mind, we mean it. Chelsey Rush isn't just a doula; she's a mom of two who has lived the journey, felt the gaps, and answered a calling to make sure other moms don't have to navigate it alone.

And it all started at home, with the birth of her daughter, and two women who changed everything.

THE MOMENT THAT STARTED IT ALL

Chelsey had a home birth. And by her own account, it was beautiful — the kind of experience she felt overwhelmingly grateful for. What made it that way wasn't just the setting. It was the people in the room: her husband Jonathan, cousin Imani, and a certified professional midwife and a student midwife named Martie, who showed up with love, care, and a presence that held Chelsey through every moment of it.

That experience didn't just stay with her; it redirected her.

"It was their presence that inspired me to pursue this field and opened my eyes to the need for Black doulas in my community."

Because here's what Chelsey also knew: not every mom gets that. Black women face maternal and infant mortality at alarmingly high rates, and the presence of a doula has been shown to significantly reduce those risks. The more she sat with that, the clearer her calling became. She enrolled in training and became a full-spectrum doula, ready to support moms through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with intention, faith, and unwavering care.

MOTHERHOOD DIDN'T COME WITH A MANUAL — AND THAT'S KIND OF THE POINT

Chelsey is a mom of two herself, ages one and three, and she'll be the first to tell you that nothing fully prepares you for what motherhood actually is.

"No book, article, or advice can truly prepare you for motherhood because it is not a 'one size fits all' journey. Every pregnancy, every experience, and every MOMent is different."

That's the foundation her whole practice is built on. At Mamas & MOMents, Chelsey offers personalized doula care that meets each mom exactly where she is — tending to body, mind, and spirit through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Chelsey’s faith is woven into everything she does, and so is the belief that every mom deserves to feel held, seen, and supported as she steps into a new version of herself.

ALL IN

On April 1st, Chelsey made it official: Mamas & MOMents became her full-time job. It wasn't an easy decision, but it was a clear one.

"I knew that the vision God had given me for my business couldn’t be executed with the time constraints I had in my day. I knew I had to free up my hands to make room for what God wanted to do next."

She’s filling her own cup in therapy each week after several years away — a reminder that showing up as her best self is the greatest gift she can give to herself and everyone she loves.

She's leaning into every MOMent. And she's bringing other moms along with her.

“To every mother, every woman hoping to become one, and every heart still waiting or healing — I see you. You are deeply loved, fully seen, and stronger than any obstacle before you.”
